6 p.m. Weekend Artist Workshop: Steven Oiestad at Ophir School Library                   

Steve Oiestad, artist and member of the Montana Painters Alliance, will teach a two-and-a-half-day workshop in Big Sky this August. Oiestad will share his expertise and guide participants in how to hone observation skills and paint with pastels, develop a composition, layer colors and add details. The Friday evening session will feature a demonstration with instruction on the fundamentals of using pastels. On Saturday, participants will paint “in studio” and, weather permitting, Sunday will be an outdoor painting day. Morning coffee and lunch are included. Space is limited, and advance registration is required. A supply list will be provided to registrants. The class fee is $195 per person, plus any supplies that are needed. Austin, Tex. based “musicianeer” Johnny Dango returns to Montana, once again backed by his trusty sidekick and noted treasure hunter Jason “Cornbread” Daly, playing songs you know by heart as well as some that might induce heartache. 

8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Trivia competition at Lone Peak Cinema                                                              

Join the Cinema crew for the popular weekly trivia night. Teams of four compete for a chance to win free drinks and movie tickets.
