The bird is the word
A chat with Sister Sparrow’s Arleigh Kincheloe, headlining Music in the Mountains July 12
Lone Peak Lookout: Your Big Sky performance is the start of a quick tour through the Rockies— Targhee Fest on the July 13 and a performance at Snowbasin Resort on the 15th, before heading back to the East Coast to finish out the summer. What are you looking forward to on your western adventure?
Arleigh Kincheloe: It’s always such a pleasure to get to travel in the mountains. I love getting to see the Tetons especially.
LPL: What’s the most memorable feedback, comment or compliment you’ve gotten from a fan?
AK: One guy actually has a tattoo of my face on his arm. That’s pretty humbling... it’s forever!
LPL: From the Big Apple to Big Sky. Have you or any of the band been to Big Sky or Montana before?
AK: My brother and I traveled to Montana on my first ever cross-country trip. We’re from the Catskill Mountains in New York state, so we really appreciate mountains. But the first time I ever saw them in Montana I was speechless! It’s absolutely stunning and I have loved it ever since that trip when I was 19.
LPL: What’s the most fun you’ve had as a band recently?
AK: We recently got to all watch the Wood Brothers perform together at a festival in Richmond. We’re all big fans so we had a great time as a band being fans!
LPL: Big Sky loves its Thursday night concert series. For those who haven’t heard your music, what can your July 12 audience expect from Sister Sparrow and the Dirty Birds?
AK: We play original soul rock music, and mostly we just want people to have a good time and get up dancing and enjoying themselves!
