Busy week of Big Horns basketball

It has been a busy few days for Big Horns basketball players and fans. The Lone Peak Big Horns boys basketball team bested their longtime West Yellowstone rivals during a nail-biter of a game. Big Horns Head Coach John Hannahs explained that the Wolverines were not quite as ferocious since they were short of players.

Halftime revival

The Lone Peak Varsity Big Horns home basketball games against White Sulphur Springs Hornets on Jan. 26 showed the Big Horns’ mettle. It was a closely contested game for the boys during the first half, but the Big Horns surged ahead after a halftime rally.

Sinking the threes

Lone Peak Varsity Big Horns and Lady Big Horns battled this weekend, their first solid introduction to the season after coming out of quarantine. Jackson Lang landed a school record for three pointers when the team faced Twin Bridges, landing seven in the game and helping keep the Big Horns in step with the Falcons.

Lady Big Horns win again!

Harrison/Willow Creek gave the Lady Big Horns a run for their money on Sept. 26, besting them in the third game, but the Lady Big Horns took the match, making their record 8-0.

Young but tough team

With just a few seconds left on the clock as the Big Horns faced the Park City Panthers, Big Horns varsity quarterback Isiah Holst fired a Hail Mary rocket. That pass was tipped off the fingertips of three different players before settling into Pierce Farr’s grasp for a touchdown.

Leading the district

Though the Manhattan Christian Eagles currently outrank the Lone Peak High School Lady Big Horns due to the nature of the scoring system, the Lady Big Horns remain undefeated.

That is not their focus, though, Head Coach Missy Botha said.
