Hold fast, skijorers

Ski bums and cowboys eye 2022 with hope

Cowboys, ski bums, and horses anxious to run: skijoring is a crowd-pleaser. The high speed, high action sport has been steadily gaining traction in western communities. There is no mystery as to why: A cowboy on horseback propels a skier holding a rope through jumps and gates – resulting in cringe-worthy spills and thrilling saves. This year’s Covid 19 restrictions led to a cancellation of what would have been Big Sky’s 4thAnnual Best in the West Showdown, according to organizer Justa Adams. LPL joins the skijoring community in eying 2022 with hope for sunny days, a calming of COVID and adventures in the snow.
