Senior Michael Romney and sophomore Maddie Cone earn All-Conference distinction
The Lone Peak High School basketball season started off when a number of question marks – mostly Covid-related. What was never a question in the coaches’ minds, though, was that their teams would work together, work hard and learn.
Leadership for both the boys and girls teams was solid. Senior Michael Romney broke a number of school records for the Big Horns: eleven assists in a single game, he made the most free throws –17 – in a single game and has the highest season free throw percentage at 86%, according to head coach John Hannahs. These stats resulted in his selection for the 2021 District 12-C Boys 2nd Team All-Conference.
Sophomore Maddie Cone, whose favorite basketball player is Kobe Bryant, earned a spot on the 2021 District 12-C Girls 1st Team All-Conference by dominating the scoreboard and snagging rebounds. Head coach Taylor Cummings noted she has an impressive offensive presence averaging 11 points and 7.87 rebounds this season and shooting 49.7% from the field.
“I’m excited to see what the next two season have in store for her,” she said.
