Death investigation in Big Sky

Sheriff says there are no public safety concerns

A person has been cited for obstructing a death investigation in Big Sky. The individual’s name as well as a photograph of his van were found at the scene of the death investigation on Curley Bear Road. The defendant was tracked to Silverbow Condominiums on May 12, when he allegedly refused to cooperate and resisted arrest.

No details have been provided about the deceased. The investigation is ongoing and the cause of death has not been determined, Gallatin County Sheriff Brian Gootkin said, noting they are awaiting autopsy results. Six Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office investigators were stated to be working the case in a probable cause affidavit and order from which the defendant was cited with misdemeanor obstruction and booked into the Gallatin County Detention Center.

Sheriff Gootkin said there are no public safety concerns as a result of this investigation.
