Big time race at Big Sky
The Big Mountain Enduro tour holds bike race for the third straight year
It was race day in Big Sky this past weekend. Over 250 racers participated in Big Mountain Enduro’s mountain bike race in Big Sky on July 24-25. This year marked the third time that Big Mountain Enduro’s tour has come through Big Sky. Last year, Big Sky’s stop was one of the only one’s on the tour during their COVID riddled season.
Big Mountain Enduro(BME) is considered to be North America’s premier enduro bike racing series. Since establishing in 2012, BME has held dozens of races in some of the most “picturesque vacation destinations throughout the rugged west” (according to Big Mountain Enduro’s website). This year’s tour will include five stops, going through Missouri, Colorado, Utah and Montana. The second stop of the tour was held in Big Sky this past weekend.
The race this past weekend included eight separate events. These events included both uphill races and downhill time trials to test riders overall biking skills. Riders competed in four events or “stages” per, then their times were added up from all eight stages to give them their final time and ranking.
The competition was incredibly stiff this weekend and multiple winners were decided by just a few seconds. Congratulations to the winners of each division!
