Lady Big Horns best the Panthers for Homecoming victory
Lone Peak High School (LPHS) Lady Big Horns Volleyball started off against the Sheridan Panthers with a dramatic first match for the Homecoming game on Sept. 19, squeaking out a 25-21 win thanks to great effort by Tj Nordahl, Dounia Metje and Reilly Germain. Germain landed back-to-back aces to secure that victory.
The second match definitely had momentum siding with the home team as Metje, Ivy Hicks and Chloe Hammond found the digs. Hannah Dreisbach, Nordahl and Germain consistently found strategic spots to kill the ball and there was solid serving by the Lady Big Horns, including Ruth Blodgett. Another match win for the Lady Big Horns: 25-12.
At this point, the LPHS student body began chanting, “I believe that we will win,” while stomping on the bleachers and the Big Horns mascot helped fire-up the local crowd.
The Panthers were consist in the battle, even earning some momentum shifts at various points in the matches, but the Lady Big Horns maintained momentum longer and ultimately bested the Panthers. A strategic tip by Dreisbach secured the match victory and the game win: 25-16 final.
Lady Big Horns junior varsity also saw victory – defeating the Panthers in five games.
