Primed for the season

Coach outlines Lone Peak Bighorns Basketball goals

Lone Peak High School (LPHS) Varsity Bighorns Basketball seniors Michael Romney, Nolan Schumacher, Mickey Botha and Jackson Lang and junior Tony Brewster will be instrumental for the 2021 season, according to coach and LPHS Athletic Director John Hannahs. With 12 returning players and six new freshmen, Hannahs said he always looks forward to working with the team.

“They are hard working and a joy to coach. I am looking forward to facing tough opponents and setting goals to improve our team and our program,” he said.

Limiting turnovers and out-rebounding opponents are primary goals for the upcoming season, in an effort to improve last year’s 3-15 record.

“Struggling with both of these last year meant our opponents had more opportunities to score and that can’t happen if we want to be successful,” he said.

The leadership and offensive force of Romney, the height and skill of 6’3” Schumacher and 6’2” Brewster as well as further offensive range from Botha and Jackson will make for an exciting season as the Bighorns aim to “take care of the ball and make the hustle play.”

Lone Peak High School Lady Bighorns Basketball will be discussed next week.
